LC3 chairperson of Lamogi sub county in Amuru district has said central government through National Medical Stores are currently supplying health centers with any consignments of drugs without consulting or letting the health centres request for the drugs they need.
Ojara was speaking from the sub county on Saturday during a thanksgiving party organized by the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party for the local community for electing Ms Akello Lucy and Gilbert Olanya in the previous elections.
He said, “The Push system should be abolished because it is rendering a disservice to the local community in Amuru district.”
The push system is where the central government decided on what type of drugs the health facilities will be given and in what quantity.
Ojara tasked the Mps to follow up the matter because the push system has made Amuru to receive more condoms and scabies drugs which he said is very irrelevant at the moment when Malaria is at its peak.
“We have many boxes of condoms and scabies drugs in health centers here but we have very few drugs for malaria. This is very dangerous considering the fact that Malaria is killing people,” Ojara remarked.
Mr Gilbert Olanya, Kilak County Member of Parliament said that in 2014 they asked that the push system be abolished.
He promised to follow up on the matter with the ministry of health
