Forum for Democratic Change party (FDC) president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has said he is no longer bothered by people calling him a mole planted by government to destabilize the FDC party.
“I have not been panicking about these allegations of being a mole for all this while, I have been instead continuing to do my work to develop FDC and now I can honestly say I’m not bothered, no …,” said Muntu.
People fought me from my head to toe, from all sides but I didn’t respond to anything because that’s my tactic, and that is how I have overcome this war, added Gen Muntu.
Gen Muntu while speaking to FDC party delegates from Acholi sub-region in Gulu town on Saturday said despite people calling him a mole, he won the fight by remaining silent citing his silence has kept the party afloat.
“I ran against Rtd Col Kizza Besigye for the first time and when I lost the election what did I do, I went behind him and continued working together and stability was established in the party. Even for the second time I again ran against him he defeated me but I never complained,”
In 2012, we went into an election and everyone knows what happened…it was trouble, but how did I react, I became the stabilizing factor and by the grace of God we were united, so how would someone think I’m a mole,” added Muntu.
Gen Muntu noted that what he is doing at the moment is the tactics that scares Mr Museveni to his core ground adding he (Museveni ) fears unity and he uses all his ways to disorganize a well-built institution.
“If I had responded to these people, this party would be in turmoil now and if I am really a mole, right now I would not be working towards strengthening the party but rather disorganizing it, “says Gen Muntu.
He added that many times he has been called a boardroom party president and a coward who doesn’t want to get involved in activism, but argued that those people were wrong because he operates on different tactics.
“I know Mr Museveni like books I read, I know what his plans are, how he operates and what he seems to be after and these are the things people don’t know and it’s the reason I operate the way I do,” said Gen Muntu.
Gen Muntu however asked to be voted since he is a fresh blood so as to be able to consolidate the party from grass root to apex structures and overwhelm Mr Museveni out of power ahead of next year’s general Poll.
Kitgum district FDC Chairperson, Mr Alfred Amoi pledged an overwhelming support for Gen Muntu by his supporters in Kitgum district.
Both Gen Muntu and Rtd Col Besigye are currently traversing the country canvassing for votes ahead of the September 2nd FDC Presidential flag bearer election.
