A 53 year old woman identified as Ms Auma Josca, a mother of six children from Mutema Village, Amuru Sub County in Amuru District committed suicide on the evening of 31st August 2015.
The area local councilor one, Mr Oryem Robinson told our reporter that the late Auma poisoned herself with Civacol, a chemical.
She drank the chemical after a disagreement with her step son identified as Mr Okwera Richard who accused the deceased of moving with charms in his garden.
Attempts to get information from the District Police Commander Amuru were not possible at press time as his mobile phone could not be reached.
However, an eye witness who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said the deceased poisoned herself when she was told by her step daughter that she would be taken before the elders following her unbecoming behavior.
According to a report from the area local council one, the police from Amuru police post intervened following the incident but her relatives resolved to bury her after proving to police that the deceased was not killed but died after poisoned herself.
A total of five people in the area have so far committed suicide since 2014 and the L.C 1 chairman blames this on the effects of the insurgency which he said left residents traumatized.
Oryem called upon religious leaders and Non Governmental Organizations to intervene.
