A Dutch national has gone missing in Murchison Falls National Park in Nwoya district, police has said.
Aswa Region police spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema, told journalists in Gulu today that the Dutch citizen identified as Sophie Isabela Fredrick is suspected to have disappeared around 7 pm yesterday.
A case of her disappearance has already been recorded with police in Nwoya district under SD/16/29/10/2015.
Sophie Isabela Fredrick, said to be a medical student, was carrying a Dutch passport number NXJ6TD7D9. She reportedly left a student camp at Para, in the park, at around 6:30 pm leaving two of her friends behind.
Before she left the camp, Sophie Isabela Fredrick is said to have left her passport with her friends identified by police as Hellen Evaline and the second who has so far been idenitified only as Liselot
According to the police, a bottle of mineral water that she was carrying was recovered just six meters from River Nile. It is yet unclear as to what could have happened to her.
