Christopher Acire has conceded defeat to Reagan Okumu for the Aswa parliamentary seat.
Acire said this evening over Gulu FM, a radio he owns: ” It was not God’s wish for me to lead the people of Aswa.”
Acire is the current Gulu municipality MP, but he ditched the seat for Aswa county and had an acrimonious fight with Reagan Okumu for the Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) flag.
In December last year, Gulu High Court resident judge Margaret Mutonyi ruled that Mr Acire was the legitimate flag bearer for Aswa County.
The FDC party, however, endorsed Reagan Okumu.
At the time of the court ruling, Okumu had already been nominated as the FDC party candidate.
Acire said on radio that some of his voters may have mistaken Okumu’s symbol as his.
