At least 375 Nwoya civil servants may be deleted from the government payroll if they are not validated by July 1, 2016.
In a letter dated March 22, 2016 and signed by Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, the permanent secretary ministry of public service, said a number of public officers have not been registered by the auditor general while others have not been registered by the National Identification Registration Authority(NIIRA).
The letter pinned at the notice board at Nwoya district headquarters stressed that affected public officers should report at Kololo ceremonial ground from 11th-29th of April, 2016 for validation and registration.
The validation is meant to cross check the particulars of the civil servants with the purpose of wiping out cases of ghost staffs from the government payroll
Mildred Arach Ongwen, senior Accounts Assistant, Nwoya local government said during the validation of civil servants conducted in the district her name “Ongwen” was left out which meant that her name was not matching with those in her documents at the ministry of public service.
Charles Ocaka the Parish chief for Todora Sub County also a victim said the district should intervene and allow the officials from the Ministry to come back to Nwoya.
Alice Alanyo the acting Nwoya Personnel Human Resource noted that time given for the exercise at the district level was too short which made the officials to conduct their work in a rush which resulted into errors being made.
She also said public officials in the district who were not validated because they are abroad for studies should have their time for validation extended.
