Two Gulu based artists identified Lucky Bosmic Otim and Maria A have been arrested and detained by police for suspected involvement in the attack of another artist—Denis Okello alias Tu-Pee.
Bosmic Otim, a famous singer in northern Uganda and Maria A are currently held at Gulu Central Police.
Mr Denis Okello alias Tu-Pee, also a radio presenter at Radio Rupiny, owned by the New Vision group of companies was hit on the head on Friday last week. He is admitted at St Marys Hospital Lacor with a deep cut on the head. His condition is thought to be not life threatening.
Aswa region police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the arrest of the two artists.
Okema, however, said he was unaware of the reasons why the two singers had been arrested since he has been out of office since the beginning of this week.
A police officer speaking on condition of anonymity however said the duo had been arrested for a suspected role in attacking Denis Okello aka Tu-Pee.
Tuu- Pee was attacked by unknown people from his home in Pece division.
The attack on Tuu-Pee came barely a day after another on a boda boda rider identified as Welborn Kilama who unlike Tuu-Pee was unlucky; he died after being hit by the yet- to- be known attackers.
There has been an increased spate of attacks by machete wielding men in Gulu town within the past two months. More than 15 have been injured and two killed.
