Police in Gulu are holding five people found in possession of ivory weighing over 400 kilograms.
The suspects are Juma Nasuru, Cosmas Apuke, Moses Kakama, Christopher Wamala and Vincent Kamya.
The suspects were arrested over the weekend from Amuru district during an operation by police; they are being detained at Gulu Central Police Station.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa river region police spokesperson said on Monday that the suspects were arrested from different locations in Amuru district.
Okema said the five have been charged with unlawful possession of wildlife products and their files will be taken to the Resident States Attorney for legal advice before they are produced in court. The exhibits are at Gulu Central police station.
