Lucky david is one of the most versatile musicians from Acholi sub region in Northern Uganda. He has a very matured way of producing his music which crosses many genres. He believes that he still has a lot to do in order to conquer the music market, and once you hear him sing, you will be in no doubt that the market is his to conquer. Acholi Times correspondent Felix Ochola caught up with him for a chat about his life and music.
Talent, drive, time and personality are all important factors in achieving success in any trade. Fortunately, for Smokie Man, these factors have been coming together for years and now, at the age of 29, he is on the verge of achieving his place in the R&B, Reggae and Hip Hop in a contemporary Acholi music world. Before Smokie Man had discovered that his musical talent would become his life’s passion, he was a youth caught up in a catch 22 situation in along brutal war that claimed most of his peers and destroyed any potential for youths in the region to succeed in life.
A relative newcomer to the Acholi music scene, Lady Sharia is recognized as a talented and gifted musician. Ever since embarking on a music career, she has been well-received by music fans in northern Uganda. Lady Sharia is a unique and original musical talent who is fast developing a dedicated following among music lovers of all ages. Her music is about empowering women and respecting women’s rights – issues that have received little attention from a region that has been engulfed in a two decade brutal war. The future for Lady Sharia appears bright and challenging, but she is confident she is poised to continue making a lasting impact in the music scene in the New Year and beyond. Acholi Times correspondent Felix Ochola caught up with her for a brief chat about music and life.
2pee is a rare type of musician; he comically relates his music to real life experiences. Because of his persona and attitude towards contemporary music, he has worked with a number of musicians from Acholi sub region. He has however found a niche in the industry by deviating from ordinary Hip-Hop, R&B, and Luo contemporary music, and started producing what he calls “Goga Flow” music. 2pee’s type of music is currently the most liked in the sub region and is winning much airwaves, this is because it is not only comical but equally fun to listen to. She has got an angelic look to her, fittingly, and is a very talented. She is a versatile artist with an amazing charisma and sings so beautifully with a powerful voice. She is an amazing all-round entertainer and almost no woman singer in Acholi contemporary music, R&B and Soul in the region carries as much passion and energy in her voice as Pretty B. Lakony Martin Ogik is a well grounded artist amongst very many founder musicians in Acholi sub region, northern Uganda. His versatility and talent to write, produce and sing various types of music - contemporary, gospel, traditional lakubu- kubu and Aguma - in both Luo and English not only places him among the best musicians in the region but also sets him apart from the rest. Over the years, we have enjoyed his music at various events, functions and occasions.
