ONE YEAR OLD CHILD IN NEED OF SHS 40MILLION FOR HEART SURGERY

Sharon Nagudi, one year old is grappling with congenital heart diseases with ventricular Septal defect and right ventricular hypertrophy according to Dr Doreen Nakagaayi of Mulago National Referral hospital who diagnosed her late last year.

Her mother Ms Laker Adong, 19 a resident of Layibi division In Gulu municipality, says that her child started getting breathing complication at four month and they took her to Lacor hospital where she was admitted for two weeks and later referred to Mulago hospital for further diagnosis.

The child has been referred for an open heart surgery in India the only solution to her defect at a tune of shs 40 million.

 “We are always in the hospital my child has general body weakness and pneumonia which attacks her almost every week,” says Adong.

“Am just a house wife, my husband, Edison Wamono also does odd jobs to make ends meet. We are asking for organizations and individuals to help and save the life of our child,”

Congenital heart disease is the deformity of the heart and they include septal defect opening in the septum between the sides of the heart. 

There are Many types of heart defects, most of which either obstruct blood flow in the vessels near it or cause blood to flow through the heart in an abnormal pattern.

Heart defects are among the most common birth defects and are the leading cause of birth defect-related deaths.

 Approximately 9 people in 1000 are born with a congenital heart defect.

 Many defects don't need treatment, but some complex congenital heart defects require medication or surgery.
