Rt. Rev. Johnson Gakumba, the bishop of Northern Uganda Diocese (cassock) accompanied by religious and cultural leaders from Acholi sets fire on waragi   packed in sachets. Gulu has banned the drinks for among others making people  unproductive

Police in Attiak Sub County in Amuru on Friday last week arrested Mr. George Onek, the sub county health assistant  on allegations of being drunk while on duty.

Mr Onek was arrested from his work station at Attiak Health Centre IV. He was arrested on the orders of the orders by the Attiak sub county  Chairman Baguma Wilfred Odiya and the sub county chief Mr. Komakech Michael  Comboni.

Mr. Odiya said they ordered for the arrest of the health assistant because he was detected drunk on duty. Odiya added that the health assistant was also abusing patients at the health centre.

‘‘I don`t want to see any government official drunk while on duty. Every servant must adhere to the professional codes of conduct,’’ Odiya warned.

The sub county chairman Baguma said being drunk at work sends the wrong image to the community about civil servants and affects the operation of the sub county.

According to the LC3 chairman it is not the first time the health assistant had reported drunk at work.
