Pastor Benjamin Oteka who was jailed early last year for battering his ex-American wife was recently released on bail by the Gulu High Court.

Pastor Oteka of the Faith Cathedral church (FCC) in Gulu town had been jailed for two and a half years by the Gulu magistrates’ court for assaulting his then American wife, Carol Ward then director of Favour of God Ministries.

Oteka applied for the bail before High Court in Gulu through his lawyers Alice Latigo and Tonny Kitara. He presented six sureties, all his close relatives, friends and church leaders.

In his ruling, the Gulu resident judge, Justice Vincent Okwanga said court was satisfied with the sureties presented before court.

The Pastor was released on a cash bail of one million shilling non- cash.

Court directed that the Oteka should keep reporting to registrar of court every last Monday effective 22nd January 2018 until 20th July 2018 when his appeal hearing will begin.
