Dr Janet Beatrice Oola, the Nwoya District Health Officer (DHO) has passed on.
Dr Oola was declared dead by medics on arrival at Kirundu Hospital, Kampala where she was rushed in critical condition on Thursday morning.
She had been found unresponsive in her hotel room before being rushed to the hospital. There is no report yet on what led to her death.
According to reports, she was in Kampala for the National Health Sector Review meeting.
By press time, her body was still in Kampala.
Geoffrey Axuma, the Nwoya District Information Officer confirmed the report and described her passing on as sad.
Dr. Oola was at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.
