    UPDF to Recruit LDU’s In Agago, Lamwo and Karamoja

    The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces 5th Division at Achol Pii in Agago district has said it will begin recruiting Local Defence Units (LDU) in Agago district beginning on Wednesday this week.

    The UPDF 5th Division Spokesman, Lt George Musinguzi said the recruitment will target the youth.

    “The recruitment will target youth between the age 18-25 and qualifications between primary seven and senior four certificates,” said Lt Musinguzi.

    Musinguzi said the recruitment aims at filling security gaps in the districts of Agago and Lamwo in East Acholi and Kaabong, Kotido and Abim district in the Karamoja sub region.

    He however said the recruitment should not raise any suspicion in the communities were the exercises will be conducted.

    The army spokesman appealed to local leaders and District Intelligence Officers (DISO’s) in the districts were the recruitment will take place to recommend disciplined persons for to be recruited as LDU’s.

    In Agago district, the recruitment will take place on Wednesday at Labwor Dwong in Paimol Sub County and will target 150 youth. All the recruits will undergo compulsory medical examination to ensure that they are fit for the training.

    “Youths should take up this opportunity since this is a permanent pensionable job and those who are successfully recruited as LDU’s may also stand a chance of being integrated into the UPDF,” said Lt Musinguzi.
