    Kitgum Shooting Suspects Remanded To Gulu Central Prisons

    Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura rushed to Kitgum to help curb the gun violence that had become rampant in the district. Now court in Gulu has remanded 24 of the suspects to Gulu Central Prison

    Court in Gulu has remanded 24 suspected terrorists to Gulu Central Prison.

    The 24 had appeared before Gulu chief Magistrate court, Ssejjemba Deogratias.

    The 24 are mostly those accused with a recent spate of gun violence in Kitgum district.

    Chief Magistrate Ssejjemba adjourned their case to the 22nd of November.

    The suspects include; Alfred Omara, Thomas Oringa, Peter Wokorach Okongo, Boniface Okot, Beatrice Akello, Peter Kidega Nono, Anthony Ocen, Ayub Ojara alia kwac, Bosco Olal, James Oola and Patrick Okura Okeny.

    Others are: Thomas Lubangakene, Robert Okumu, Amuza Ocen, Richard Burton Otoo, Johnson Komakech, Johnson Orach, Alex Okello Uhuru, Benson Olweny, Jasper Lukwiya, Vincent Aron Onono, Geofrey Ochira, Thomas Ayella and Jimmy Luwa Lukuta.

    They were arrested in October from Kitgum district by the police Flying squad on orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gen Kale Kayihura.

    The arrest followed numerous murders by gun shootings in Kitgum district this year.

    Over five people were murdered including a former Uganda Revenue Authority Kithim Boss, Tony Olanya, 63. He was shot dead from his home in Ayul village in Pager division, Kitgum district.

    Other gun violence victims include Grace Ageno, the Greenland parish LC3 councilor, Christine Omoya and Alice Akello.
