    Two Arrested in Lamwo Over Torture of Suspected Cattle Thief

    Police in Lamwo District is holding two people in connection with the torture of 24-year-old suspected cattle thief.

    The arrests follow the gruesome assault on of Geoffery Ocen, a resident of Dyang Bii village, Palabek Gem Sub County in Lamwo District.

    Ocen was hung upside down on a tree branch as he was ferociously wiped.

    The video of the incident went viral on social media drawing condemnation from a section of Ugandans both home and abroad.

    The arrested suspects have been identified as David Kasasira and Derrick Opoka, both residents of Dyang Bii village, Palabek Gem Sub County in Lamwo District.

    The pair were picked on Friday night following the gruesome attack on the victim on July 24, 2021.

    Joel Watoker, the Local Council Three Chairperson Palabek Gem Sub County who doubles as Chairperson security said some of the suspects involved in the alleged torture have since gone into hiding.

    The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson said police is investigating the matter.
