The suspects in the murder of Okidi were guarding Dfcu banks branch

The State on Thursday said investigations into the murder of Gulu University don, Patrick Okidi is incomplete and asked for more time.

The late Okidi was shot dead on the evening of Sunday, August 21, 2016 by a security guarding Dfcu bank in Gulu town. He died while being rushed to the nearby Gulu Referral Hospital.

Okidi had parked his numberless motorbike across the road—opposite Dfcu bank where he was withdrawing money from a Mobile Money agent.

Eye witnesses say the late Okidi was tasked by the security guard Patrick Okeny, 29, to prove that numberless motorcycle belonged to Okidi.

Okeny, a resident of Iriaga Bwona Gweno village, Laroo Division in Gulu Municipality and Simon Odongkara, 21, a resident of Layibi Central village in Pece division, also in Gulu Municipality were arrested and charged in connection with the murder.

On Thurdsay, the duo appeared before Gulu Grade I Magistrate, Paul Owino

Paul Wepondi, the State Attorney prosecutor said the state had not incomplete investigations on the matter and asked for more time.

Court accordingly remanded the suspects until the September 22, 2016 when they are expected reappear before the same court for further mention of the case.
