Mr Komakech Simon, the Gulu National Resistance Movement (NRM) administrative secretary has been asked to leave office as investigations into allegations of abuse of office and forgery against him take place.

In a meeting held at the NRM secretariat on Monday chaired by Dr Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, the director mobilisation and recruitment and Cadre development, it was agreed that Komakech should step aside to allow investigation in the matter.

The meeting followed a recommendation by Gulu district NRM executive members headed by Gulu district NRM chairperson Martin Kiiza Aboga for Komakech’s case to be heard.

Some NRM members also headed by Mr Ocen James the NRM chairperson for Pece division had also demanded for the sacking of Komakech saying he had soiled the party’s image.

When contacted, Mr Galwango said the matter is not a big one and that Komakech should not step into the NRM office for 2 weeks as they will announce the results of the investigation.

“This is not a hard matter. By two weeks we shall announce our position on the case but for now he should not be in office,” Galiwango said.

Komakech when contacted confirmed the development by the secretariat saying investigation will show that those fighting him are former party secretary general Mr Amama Mbabazi loyalists

Mr Komakech Simon and Mr Opio Colbert, the Pece division NRM registrar and Komakech Simon the Gulu NRM administrative secretary are being accused of sex scandals involving the recruitment of mobilisers.

Trouble for the two men started when Komakech recently caused the arrest of Opio on charges of obtaining money by false pretence.

Opio was accused of forging the party stamp and headed paper which he then used to extort Shs 2million from different girls promising them jobs as village party mobilisers in the upcoming 2016 general election.

There were also reports that he asked for sex from the applicants with promised to offer them the jobs.

However, a meeting last week from TAKS centre after Opiyo securing police bond by the district executive members, Opio heaped all the blame on Komakech saying it is Komakech who made him recruit all the girls and is the one with the headed paper.

He said it is Komakech who was sleeping with the girls either in his car or in lodges and that many NRM members want Komakech to leave office because he has gravely abused the party office.

Last Tuesday, a group of NRM Members stormed the party office on Gulu Main Street attempting to lock the Administrative secretary out of his office but the intervention of Gulu district police commander, Mr Martin Okoyo saw police deployment to Guard the office.
