A newborn baby girl is receiving treatment at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital after surviving a seven-meter fall in a pit latrine, minutes after her mother accidentally delivered her while answering a call of nature.
20-year-old Ms Gladys Watongo thought of easing herself little did she know that her baby was on her way.
She only realized that her womb was empty after her baby dropped in the pit latrine where she had locked herself in for privacy.
The baby however survived the dangerous fall.
She was retrieved by Good Samaritans and rushed for medical attention.
The case has been registered at Paicho Police Station under SD Reference Number 08/13/01/2022.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the report and the matter is under investigation.
