National Resistance Movement (NRM) members in Acholi sub region have asked the NRM secretariat to make sure the party voters registers are displayed early saying doing otherwise will lead to the primaries being marred with confusion and rigging.

Mr Opiyo Sunday, an aspirant for Nwoya Member of Parliament said that early display of the party register will ensure that members know that their names are include in the register.

“Those who will not be in the register will then be included,” He said.

This was on Friday at Acholi Inn when a delegation from the National NRM secretariat headed by Mr Mike Sebalu was meeting with NRM aspirants from Acholi sub region.

Opiyo also told the party electoral commission that polling should be done using secret ballots saying the previous primaries were being done using exercise books which led to multiple voting.

Ms Irene Oywaa, the NRM aspirant for Aswa county questioned the issue that Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) is asking for additional Shs540, 000 yet they paid Shs2million at the secretariat which they though includes the verification fee at UNEB.

However, Sebalu said the concerns of the aspirants are being taken care off.

He said the party register will be out between the 21st -25th of August ahead of the primary elections set for September.

Sebalu also stressed that the commission had taken seriously the issues of the secret ballots and work on the voting materials is already on.

He however warned NRM aspirants to maintain discipline because the party wants to have the most free and fair election.
