The Member of Parliament for Aswa County, Mr Reagan Okumu has finally delivered 500 hand hoes meant for Gulu municipality.

This was revealed by the Member of Parliament for Gulu municipality, Mr Christopher Acire during his weekly talk show on Gulu FM radio, his radio station over the weekend.

“Mr Okumu has finally delivered the hoes meant for the municipality to the Mayor,” He said.

The over 500 hoes were part of the hoes given to all members of parliament to distribute in their constituencies.

Acire says, “It is because of pressure that Okumu gave back the hoes to the Mayor. The Inspector General of Government (IGG) interrogated him on the issue of the hoes. Residents of the municipality also had a peaceful demonstration denouncing Okumu’s’ acts.”

Aloyo Winnie, a resident said, “Okumu earns more than Shs40million per month as a commissioner of parliament and as an MP. Why does he have to steal the hoes meant for peasants?”

Aloyo claims that Okumu unlawfully received the hoes from parliament yet they belonged to the municipality promising to deliver them to Achire’s office which he didn’t do but instead went with the hoes to his constituency.

She says that Okumu’s actions show that he does not care about the population in Northern Uganda that has just emerged from over 20years of war.

Attempts to contact Okumu for a comment were futile as his phone number was not available and his known office in Gulu was closed.
