A total of 12 brand new motorcycles were on Wednesday donated to Gulu District local government by the Japan International Corporation (JICA).

The motorcycles worth US$ 38,400 (about Shs 100 million) were donated to community Development officers (CDOs) at sub county levels within the district to ease their coordination of government projects.

While receiving the donation from JICA at the Gulu district council hall, Gulu district Chairperson, Mr Martin Ojara Mapenduzi lauded JICA for their generous contributions that will necessitate improved service delivery at sub-county levels.

“We have had a long relationship with JICA, there are a number of projects that have been fully funded by the organization in the district and we very much appreciate the good will towards development in the region,”

“There are a number of projects currently being implemented like the youth Livelihood Projects, Cattle restocking programmes among others that needs to be monitored keenly,”, Mapenduzi adds.

Mr Mapenduzi however warned the beneficiaries of the motorcycles that the donation they received comes along with responsibility of improved performances.
