Rwot David Onen Acana II, the Acholi paramount chief has said that nobody will cheat the Acholi people of their land or even encroach on it.

The paramount chief who was accompanied by 13 chiefs from all over Northern Uganda was last  Monday addressing residents of Apaa in Amuru district for the first time since the forceful demarcation of the border between Adjumani and Amuru.

The exercise that took place on the 7th of September by Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and police saw people being injured and others going missing.

Acana said that every border boundary in Uganda normally has physical features and that what beats his understanding is the fact that where the mark stone have been planted there is no physical feature except for Joka Bridge.

Acana also apologized for taking too long to reach Apaa and explained that he wanted to have concrete information adding that some people were threatening to beat him if he dared to reach Apaa.

“I apologize on my behalf and on behalf of all the traditional chiefs that we have come late, not as you had expected. I want this intimidation to end and I will try all possible ways to see that this ends “Acana said.

He said Apaa is an Acholi issue and not for members of Parliament (MP) Mr Olanya Gilbert.

As a way forward, he said together with Acholi Religious Leaders’ Peace Initiative, he would meet leaders from Adjumani so find ways of solving the crisis.

The paramount chief also gave Shs2million to the residents of Apaa to help them sort out whatever problem they may have.

Mr Olanya, the Kilak County MP suggested that the money should be used in securing bail application for the over 35 people on remand at Gulu Central Prison.

His Magesty(Rwot David Achana II)”I could see how the Apaa Residents felt with the Joy and spirit of Protection that you presented to them.
Wan Lu-Diasporas wang wa tye APEDA.Wakuru DWAN RWOT KEKEN. Our Ancestors Blood built Apaa Land. We,the YOUNGSTERS must follow their footsteps without FEAR.
Solution:Rwot Achana you need to change the perceptions and emphasis on Acholi sensitization to understand WHO our real Cultural,Resource and lives destroyer is.
Possibly an historic contribution with a Boarding Secondary School in your name in Apaa Land will serve the Community a great Educational Services as you will be visiting and remembering your People in that Clan.
