The Gulu Grade One Magistrate’s Court presided over by Ms Selsa Biwaga has committed Mr Kenneth Okumgoro Ojara, the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of a local journalist with a Gulu based radio station, Favor FM for trial at the High Court.

Okumugoro was arrested in June this year after the decomposing body of his wife, Ms Scovia Anena, 23, was found in their rented room in Kolo quarters, Layibi division, Gulu Municipality.

Magistrate Biwaga on Monday committed Okumgoro, 30, to High Court after the State Prosecutor told court that the investigation into the matter is now complete.

Mr Jerry Oyirwoth, the State Prosecutor informed the Magistrate’s Court that they are now ready to proceed with the trial of the suspect after the inquiries were completed.

Gulu Grade I Magistrate Biwaga accordingly committed him for trial at the next convenient High Court criminal session before remanding him to Gulu Central Government Prisons.

Okumugoro, a security officer with HUB Company in Pajule in Pader district was charged before Gulu Magistrates court over the death of Anena.

The deceased, a freelance journalist with Gulu based radio station, Favor FM was at the time of her death six months pregnant.

It is alleged that between June 12 and13,2015, Okumgoro murdered Anena.

But at the time of his wife’s death, the suspect was reportedly in Pader district at his work station as a private security guard.
