Kitgum woman member of Beatrice Anywar has petitioned Forum for Democratic Party president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu over what she describes as unfairly being dropped as the party flag bearer for the Kitgum municipality seat.

Anywar popularly known as ‘Mama Mabira’ was last week dropped by FDC for her role in backing the Go forward candidate Amama Mbabazi and not FDC party president Kiiza Besigye.

Anywar has since been replaced by Denis Onekalit who has been endorsed by the FDC flag bearer for the Kitgum municipality seat.

The move has since angered Anywar.   Taking advantage of Besigye’s campaign in Kitgum district on Monday, Anywar stormed a meeting convened by party officials at Little Palace Hotel with a petition demanding an explanation on why she was dropped.

Anywar accused FDC party officials of being biased in its decision to ax her yet the party is still under the loose alliance of political parties–the Democratic Alliance (TDA) were she says anyone is free to support an opposition candidate of their choice.

Anywar also said the party unconstitutionally endorsed the candidature of her rival Denis Onekalit saying unlike her, Onekalit was not elected my the majority of FDC voters.

FDC party president Mugisha Muntu called for calm and urged Anywar to respect the decision of the party.
