Gulu High Court has sentenced a 22-year-old HIV positive woman to 20 – years in jail for defiling a 14- year old boy.
Prosecution led by William Bayo alleges on January 2, 2015, at Awalkok village in Lalogi Sub County in Gulu district, Janet Adyero sexually assaulted the 14-year- year old.
Bayo told court that Adyero being a person who is aware of HIV sero-status since she is already on ART treatment was found engrossed in a sexual act with the underage boy at around midnight on January 2, 2015.
According to Bayo, the boy pleaded with Adyero three times to leave him but she threw the boy down and forcefully had sex with him.
Bayo noted that the sexual encounter put the boy’s life at a risk of contracting HIV/Aids.
The boy, a primary six pupil, was later put on Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), a short-term antiretroviral treatment to reduce the likelihood of HIV infection after potential exposure after sexual intercourse.
Adyero denied the charge and prosecution produced five prosecution witnesses including a medical report, a police form 3 (a) to prove its case against her.
Lady Justice Margaret Mutonyi agreed with the evidences adduced against Adyero stating that prosecution had proved all the essential ingredients involved in aggravated defilement offence brought against her (Adyera).
She accordingly convicted and sentenced Adyero to 20 years in jail.
The judge said the sentence will enable the convict to reform and become a better person to the society.
Meanwhile the same court also handed a 15-year-jail term to Betty Adong, a 20-year-old woman, and a resident of Odek Sub County also in Gulu district for defiling a 14-year-old boy.
Adong was convicted of aggravated defilement after she sexually abused an underage boy on August 24, 2014.
At least twelve suspects including ten men were convicted and sentenced to long jail terms for aggravated defilement during the one- month high court criminal session held in Gulu.
The one month trial period was presided by Lady Justice Mutonyi, the Gulu resident High Court judge. She handled forty cases in which 21 were sex related offences.

Constructive Solution can be to create an environment that brings together these sex thirsty older females and males to pair up and live together/marry and build homes/families for themselves. Instead of defiling young ones, birds of the same feathers would meet and become peaceful members of the community. If after availing this opportunity for them, they still make any defilement, then life imprisonment or death penalty should be put on them. The white Australian were the criminals/prisoners from Great Britain, taken there to start new life for themselves. Now Australia is a continent of white people, no longer criminals or prisoners. So sometimes providing opportunity is a better solution.
