Rev Vincent Ocheng Ocen ,the Gulu district education officer has finally accepted his posting to the new created Omoro district

The Gulu district education officer (DEO), Rev Vincent Ocheng Ocen has finally accepted his posting to the newly created Omoro district. Omoro became operational on 1st July 2016.

Rev Vincent Ocheng Ocen told Acholi Times on Tuesday that he had accepted the posting to Omoro.

The DEO did not say what caused him to change his mind to a posting he had protested and described as a ‘‘demotion.’’ But Acholi Times understands that the  Gulu Chief Administrative Officer Dorothy Ajwang stood her ground.

In a six page protest letter  dated June 23, 2016, and copied to the  Gulu District Chairperson, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Members of Parliament and Permanent Secretaries Ministry of Public Service and Local Government among others, Rev Ocheng said he was shocked by his transfer to Omoro and threatened legal action if the transfer is not reversed.

When contacted, the Gulu chief Administrative Officer Dorothy Ajwang said the decision to transfer Mr.  Ocen to Omoro was ‘‘mature.’’
