Sheikh Musa Khelil, the Acholi Muslim leader, has called for unity among Muslims in Acholi.
Sheikh Khelil made the call during a sermon on Eid day at the Gulu Public Primary school in Gulu town.
Khelil pointed out a number of problems which he said are affecting Muslims in Acholi. He said one of the challenges Muslims are facing is that land allocated to them by the former president, the late Idi Amin has been encroached on.
“We have land in Obiya Primary. We have a piece of land at the cemetery. We have land in Kasubi, near the army Barrack, in Layibi and in Anaka,’’ Khelil said.
“All these piece of land have been encroached on and I cannot reclaim them alone. I need your support. I need your support.”
The cleric accused the Gulu Municipal Authority for making plans to construct a road on a piece of Muslim land in Gulu town which is currently being used as a cemetery.
George Labeja, the Gulu Mayor when contacted said that the municipal authorities have already done a preliminary survey and intends to pay Shs28 million as compensation for a road that will pass through the Muslim cemetery in Gulu town.
“We have already done a survey and we intend to pay them compensation of Shs 28m. We want to construct a road on the cemetery,” Labeja told Acholi Times on Wednesdays.
Labeja adds that the Muslim leaders should sit down and discuss how the cemetery should be transferred before it’s late.
In his sermon, the Acholi Khadi also urged the youth in Acholi to desist from being lured into rebellion by what he termed as selfish people.
He criticized the recent attacker on Gulu Central police station saying Acholi region is not a laboratory for wars.
The Acholi Muslim leader called on the Muslims to forgive one another so that they may enter the kingdom of Allah.

Maybe I was too young during Amins time, but what I know is that, Amin was a retarded dictator who wanted Uganda to be a Muslim state and he was never elected to be president of Uganda. How then can you claim that Amin has given you lands in Acholi when he Amin was not even an Acholi? Secondly in Uganda if you have a land in towns and you don’t make use of it for a long time, the town board will developed it and it’s not illegal. If Museveni elected president of Uganda can’t give Acholi land to anybody or organisation, then who was Amin to give Acholi land to anybody? Please rent, buy, or ask for land owners if they can donate their land to the Muslim but don’t bring this amin’s BS..t . He had done too much nasty thing to Acholi people and for that he is rotting in HELL.
Wow! Muslims reclaiming land on Acholi soil? Sounds like a joke. I am 43 years old…may be too young to understand Amin’s history but is this for real? He says, “I cannot reclaim them alone” and stresses that “I need your support. I need your support”. Whose support is he asking. I am confused.
True Twon Dako, I guess he meant alqaeda, alshabaab, or Isis support who knows? Anyone who still think that Amin was a righteous man after what he had done to Acholi and Uganda as a whole must have evil in their soul. These people are wolfs in sheep clothings. Green snakes in green grass. His calling for help is not for Acholi people, is for other Muslims to come for their rescue in Acholi soil. Talking of unity? What a double stander! Muslim won’t unite with Christian. Although christians are trying and helping them, they still want to isolate themselves have their own land, school, and villages even in a foreign land. What a controlling freak society? Just mix, relax, and Repent to the Almighty.
Muslim religion should have NO root in Acoli. We should reject this evil religion, our ancestors would cry foul after they were murdered by Mohamed during the Arab war. Why did we run for refuge in Bar El Gajel?

I have read this small article again this morning as if I was studying for exams…So much that I even dictionary.com the word “Enchroach” as if I did not know what it meant. I mean, the guy is talking as if Acholi people no longer live on their own land..Or as if Acholi people have abandoned their land and now its up for grabs by foreigners. he is definitely not asking for support from Acholi because that is not gonna happen…he is hoping for support from other muslim terrorists network. Talking of double standard, well, if as he says “Acholi region is not a laboratory for war”… then this Shiek Musa Khelil need to stop drumming the war drum by reclaiming land that never belonged to them (muslims) in the first place. If anything they want to enchroach on our land and our culture….well they are trying to!

First of all, I have never called any man a terrorist unless you have guilty conscience. Secondly,
If he is really an Acholi then why is he, again crying about Amin donated Acholi land to them instate of him donating his clans land for the Muslim? Lastly but not least, you don’t know me and you will never imagine what I have done to my people Acholi, and other Ugandan community in Uganda and abroad. And I have done, and still doing it by myself. Never beg for aid or money from organisations or anyone and for that my help to my people is clean with no blood or evilness in it. I maybe still young but never under estimate me please. I work hard that’s why I don’t like scam who always want donations and pretend to their people that it’s their own business.
I will never waste my time to research subjects that are not of my interest. My interest is my Acholi morality, culture, tradition and wellness but not some fake foreign traditions and their puppets give me a brake (yawning ).
