    Pader Police Officer In Custody For Shooting Passengers

    Aswa region police spokesman man said  the trigger happy cop could face an attempted murder charge

    Police in Pader district is holding one of their own for shooting and injuring four people on Friday evening last week. The incident happened at around 6:30 pm along the Pader- Gulu road.

    Special Police Constable Denis Onyach shot at a taxi registration UAX 748K in Laguti Sub County in Pader district.

    The driver of the taxi, Geoffrey Okello was not injured, however, four of his passengers were not luck. The injured have been identified as Sharon Acayo, 32, Florence Adyero 35, Grace Aryemo and Agenorwot Flavia Aciro, a four year old.  The injured are receiving treatment at Atanga Health Centre III.

    The Aswa region police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema said Onyach was arrested and is detained at Pader central police station pending investigation.

    Okema said police regrets the incident and asked for forgiveness from the public.

    The police spokesman said Onyachi will be charged with attempted murder.

    Onyach was reportedly called on to intervene in an argument between two drivers but he ended up opening fire.
