    Defilement Tops High Court Criminal Session List, Murder Follows

    The murder of former Gulu University Andrew Rackara shot dead in 2004 is also coming up for hearing

    The criminal session of the Gulu high court, as it does yearly, has opened, and again, as is the often the case yearly, sexual offences against underage girls tops the list of cases to be heard.

    The criminal session for 2017 opened today, Monday, before Justice Vincent Okwanga, the Gulu resident High Court judge.

    According to the list, there are 13 cases aggravated defilement, 08 cases of murder, 4 cases of robbery and 3 of rape.

    Among the murder cases to be heard is that of the murder of Gulu university lecturer Andrew Rachkara. The suspects in the murder are Patrick Ocaka alias Richard Oryem, Alikan Majid Ojera and Rogers Opiyo.

    Rachkara, a lecturer with the department of business and development studies was shot dead in June 2014 at his home in Pece Division, Gulu Municipality. He had just returned home from watching the screening of a world cup football game when gunmen trailed and shot him several times, killing him instantly.

    Ocaka, a taxi driver, is the prime suspect in the murder.
