A driver attached to Omoro district health department has landed himself in trouble for using an ambulance to ferry bricks to a construction site.

Goddy Otto was photographed on Friday last week at Lapinyoloyo village in Koro Sub County, Omoro district loading an ambulance registration number UG 3506M with dozens of bricks.

Locals reported Mr Otto to the district authorities over misuse of the ambulance.

The ambulance is the only one in good working condition serving a population of 130,000. It is mainly used for referrals of emergency cases from Omoro to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital Lacor, about 40kms away from Omoro.

Peter Okellocan, the area Local Council One Chairperson of Lapinyoloyo village described Otto’s action as an insult to expectants who die during child labour due unavailability of ambulances in the newly created Omoro district.

Mr Okellocan asked the district authorities to reign over the errant driver.

Francisco Wadock Awori, the area councilor LC5 for e Koro Sub County who also doubles as the District Secretary for Works and Technical Services condemned the driver’s action and said such abuse of government property will not be entertained.

Awori addd that Otto will have to answer for his action.

When contacted, John Bosco Akera, the Omoro Chief Administrative Officer, said the matter had not yet been brought to his attentions.
