The spike in cases of Coronavirus and the second death in Gulu has prompted the district health officials to request for 100 body bags for burying victims. In less than two weeks, Gulu registered 50 cases of community infections of Covid-19.

On Thursday last week, a second victim of Coronavirus was buried at Bolipii village in Awach Sub County, 20KM north east of Gulu City. The male victim becomes the second person to die from Coronavirus in the last one week after, a Catholic nun. Both victims died from government health facilities in Kampala, a week ago.

He was buried at their ancestral home even though Gulu has identified a burial ground near 4th Division Infantry Headquarters. The burial ground contains over 200 bodies of victim of the 2000 Ebola outbreak.

On Wednesday last week, Yoweri Idiba, the acting District Health Department Gulu said the district urgently needs 100 body bags. According to Idiba, each of the bag will cost 50, 000 Shillings. But the District COVID-19 Taskforce lacks the funds to buy the body bags.
