    Gulu Boy Falls Off Moving Truck, Dies

    Aswa region police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the death of the 15 year old boy and said the driver of the truck has been detained at Gulu Central police

    A 15 year-old boy has died after falling off a fast moving truck which then ran over him, killing him instantly, police in Gulu has said.

    The incident happened yesterday morning at Pageya parish in Koro Sub County, according to Aswa region police spokesman, Jimmy Patrick Okema.

    The deceased identified as Solomon Onen, was reportedly sitting on construction materials loaded on a tipper truck when he lost balance and fell off the vehicle.

    The driver of the lorry, Stephen Odong has been detained at Gulu Central police.

    Mr Okema said police visited the scene adding that they will carry out their investigations to ascertain what happened.

    He however warned the locals against sitting on top of loads on vehicles stating that it is a dangerous practice that can lead to death or grave injuries.

    Similar incidence

    In March last year, a 19 year old man identified as Patrick Okot, also fell off a moving truck and died instantly along Dr Lucile Road in Laroo division Gulu Municipality.

    In a related news, a man identified as Justine Okello died in a fatal car accident in Koro Sub County along Gulu-Kampala highway over the weekend after his vehicle overturned several times.

    Mr Okema confirmed the incidence to Acholi Times . He said the wreckage of the vehicle registration number UAN350L, has been towed to Gulu Central Police station.He attributed the accident to over speeding.
