Gulu local leaders are on the spotlight for dodging workshops where there are no allowances.

This comes after majority of local councilors including Members of parliament shunned a breakfast meeting organized by the Gulu metropolitan Lions club at Acholi Inn in Gulu.

The meeting was intended to drum up support for the African child vaccination week which started on 24th April and ends on 30th April this month.

Mr Thomas Opira, the Gulu Lions metropolitan club Tamer Equivalent to the speaker said they had invited all the local leaders but he was surprised only to see the district chairman Mr Ojara Martin Mapenduzi and one municipal councilor.

“I advise leaders to look beyond allowances because most leaders do not attend meetings where there is no allowance but a service clubs like ours helps more than allowances,” Opira said.
