Gulu woman member of parliament Betty Aol Ochan has blasted the deputy Chief Justice, Steven Kavuma describing him as a disgrace to Uganda.
Mrs. Ochan was speaking yesterday at her office in Gulu during the Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) weekly protest prayers against alleged irregularities in the February presidential elections.
“Kavuma is a disgrace to Uganda and we shall not follow his bogus court order which is against our defiance prayers. Let his go to hell and rot,’’ Aol told party supporters.
The deputy Chief Justice, Steven Kavuma, recently issued an interim court order barring the FDC from carrying out any acts of defiance, including the weekly prayers.
The orders by Kavuma followed an exparte argument (one sided argument) of an application for interim orders by the deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana.
In his application, Rukutana said the act of carrying out the defiance campaign by Besigye and FDC with the aim of obtaining control of government of Uganda is inconsistent with articles 1(1), 1(3), 1(4), 2(1) and 3(1) of the constitution.
The FDC has, however, said it will defy the court ruling.
“We shall not be intimidated. It is our right to pray. No one should stop us from holding prayers,’’ said Kelly Komakech, the Pece Division Chairman- elect and Spokesperson for the FDC in Gulu.
Komakech asked supporters of FDC not to be intimidated.
“We have arranged over 5 lawyers who we shall not name to help any of you [party supporters,’’ he said.
Moses Abonga, the FDC chairman for Gulu Municipality and LC3 Chairman for Laroo Division they will pray to God to curse Museveni and Justice Steven Kavuma.
“I call you to use your prayers to curse President Museveni and Justice Steven Kavuma for denying Ugandans freedom to warship. All I need them to know is that we shall not stop until we have seen change,” said Abonga.
