    Two police constables have been charged with the theft of two guns and burglary.

    Constable Otto Komakech, 35 and Constable Bukenya Charles, 32, both attached to Elegu in Amuru district were charged in the Amuru magistrate’s court on Friday.

    Court presided by magistrate Okot Edward heard that the two constables and three others including Okwonga Jackson alias ‘‘Steel’’ (32), Omoya Wilfred (30) and Ongom Rashid (20) on the night of 24th -25th April 2016, broke into the house of Police constable Otong Mike  and stole 2 SMG riffles from Elegu Police barracks in Amuru district.

    The two riffles with 60 rounds of ammunitions were recovered with the help of five suspects arrested in relation with theft of the guns on 1st of May in a swamp along the Attiak- Adjumani road.

    The magistrate remanded the five suspects until 6th June of 2016 when they will appear again in court.
