A 31 year old woman identified as Ms Joyce Apiyo of Ottici village in Lujorongole parish Lakwana Sub County in Gulu district was last Monday raped and later murdered by two youth.

Police says it is alleged that MApiyo was assaulted by Ayubu Fiona and one only identified as Acheng who are sisters to the two youth who allegedly murdered her.

Police says the deceased had gone to report the case to Lakwana police post when the two youth identified as Ocen Jeff Mark Openy (18) and Ojok Stephen (19) both from the same village followed her and hit her three times on the neck with an axe killing her instantly.

Police reports show that the two went ahead to hide her body in a bush.

Mr Martine Okoyo, Gulu district police commander said Mr Quinto Otto, a brother of the deceased living in Gulu town went home to the village where he was told by the deceased’s children that their mother had gone to report a case of assault against the two women.

Mr Okoyo said her brother reported the matter to police when his sister did not return.

He said, “We did investigations and found the body of the deceased hidden in the bush. One of the youth Ocn late confessed that they killed Ms Apiyo.”

Mr Okoyo said that the two suspects will be charged with murder.
