Dr.Simon Lokodo, the Minister for Ethics & Integrity has blamed the current high rate of HIV/AIDS infections in the country to promiscuity among Ugandans who now prefer sex to lunch.

Speaking as a Chief Guest during the International Candle Light Memorial Day last Friday in Gulu town, Frr Lokodo said, “Sex has lost meaning especially among young people and they are now having it every time including lunch time.”

Fr Lokodo says, “Instead of people going to have lunch, they prefer sex over afternoon bites like uncivilized people.”

According to Minister Lokodo, each day, around 400 Ugandans are infected with the HIV, which he described as exceptionally high.

The Minister claims that with the infiltration of pornography materials into the country, individuals who are obsessed with explicit materials are engaged in morning sex during break time, having sex in the afternoon hours and in the evening.

He blamed it on complacency and asked the Uganda Aids Commission to vet messages on HIV/AIDS before going into the media.

Fr Lokodo noted that mixed messages are damaging since it gives a leeway for infections.

The Ethics Minister also says that despite President Museveni’s and the First Lady’s efforts to realize an HIV free generation, Ugandans have paid deaf ears.

He particularly blamed sex workers for the wild spread of the dreadful virus and warned that he will arrest them since the law criminalizes the trade and asked religious leaders to work hard so that the scourge is tackled.

According to the latest statistics by Uganda Aids Commission (UAC), HIV/AIDS infections rate dropped by 30% in 2014.

The new figure stands at 124, 000 from 170,000 in 2011 with 15% drop in death.
