    NRM Sweeps Omoro District Special Interest Groups Election

    Candidates of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have won four of the five positions for special interest groups in Omoro district in elections held yesterday.

    The position for male councilor for older persons was won by Alobo Martin Ongom (NRM). Ongom got 21 votes, followed by Olam Santo Oyairo (Independent) who 4 votes while  Okello Sebastian Willy(FDC) tailed with only one vote.

    For female councilor representing older persons, Langol Margret (NRM) won with 25 votes while her two challengers Akello Florence (FDC) and Ajok Veronica (Independent) got two votes each.

    Bongowat Richard Luganya (NRM) was elected male youth councilor with 52 votes, Okello Robinson (Independent) came second with 29 votes while Okello Vincent (Independent) came third with 4 votes while FDC’s Ojok Tony tailed with zero votes.

    Oroma gift also an NRM candidate was elected female youth councilor for Omoro with 55 votes. Alorokuma Caroline (Independent) came second with 39 votes while Acibu Ketty also an independent came third with 4 votes.

    Okot Thomas (NRM) took the position of male councilor representing persons with disabilities. He got 10 votes beating Democratic Party (DP) candidate Mao Robert Morris with only one vote. Mao got 9 votes.

    For female councilor representing persons with, Adong Caroline Rose (Independent) won with 16 votes against Akena Lucy (NRM) got 6 votes.

    All the results were declared by Ebong Denis the Returning Officer Omoro district from his office in Koro Sub county headquarters in Omoro district.

    Mr Ebong said the results were free and fair.

    The special interest groups are voted by electoral colleges selected from the entire district.
