Omoro goes to the polls tomorrow to elect a women member of parliament and LC5 Chairman.

Minister Engola was at Corner Agula, Lalogi Sub County  to campaign for  Catherine Lamwaka, the NRM candidate for the Omoro woman parliamentary seat.

It is unclear why Engola fled, but at the time he was at the time using  his official government car registration number UG 0218 D for a party activity.

Mao himself was in Omoro to campaign for the Grace Pamela Lanyero, the DP candidate for the Omoro woman member of parliament seat.

Mao blasted Minister Engola  for using a  government vehicle to solicit votes for NRM candidatest.

Minister Engola fled on foot, abandoning his car on seeing Mao’s convoy , leaving his driver and body guards.

Mao said he was not surprised by Engola’s action considering the Minister was kicked out of parliament by court.

Lira High Court in June threw Engola out of parliament for having different names in his academic papers.

Mao also warned security agencies against intimidating voters in Omoro  during the voting exercise for the District LCV Chairman and the District Woman Parliamentary.

“We know the DISO, the GISO; the Crime Preventers might be used in threatening the voters, and in vote rigging. In case of any intimidation, please call me on 0776 001 211 so that a case is built against such individuals,’’ Mao told a rally at Opit trading centre.

‘‘In case they try to interfere with the electoral process through intimidation, they will not bear the consequence because I will not be afraid to face them head on,” added the DP President

The DP president cautioned security operatives against forcing people to vote the NRM candidate against their will.

”If you think you are too big to face the law of this country, I dare you to try and you will learn a lesson of your life. Don’t think that because that supporting the ruling party will make you immune to prosecution.’’

Mao, a former Gulu Chairman and Member of Parliament for Gulu municipality for two terms called on DP supporters in Omoro to be peace loving and to accommodate those who hold different views from theirs.
