Mr Deogratius Ssejemba, the Gulu Chief Magistrate has adjourned the hearing of a case in which Mr Patrick Oola Lumumba; the former Gulu Deputy District Council Speaker is facing a charge of conspiracy to murder.

Mr Lumumba and his co- accused Mr Geoffrey Kabir were released last Thursday by the Gulu Chief Magistrate court on a cash bail of Shs200, 000 each after producing four sureties.

Mr Lumumba and Kabir were dragged to court by Lovis Odokonyero Oryema, the Director of Bright Valley Nursery & Primary School late last year over allegations that they were planning to kill him.

Appearing before the same court on Friday, Mr Lumumba requested Chief Magistrate Ssejemba to adjourn their case since the lawyer who is representing them is not in court.

Mr Lumumba and Mr Kabir are being representing by Twontoo Oba of Twontoo Oba & Co. Advocates.

Mr William Bayo, the State Prosecutor in the case and has so far produced two witnesses told court that he has no objection to their request.

The Chief Magistrate subsequently adjourned the case to 3rd July 2015.

In a two minute voice recording played in court last week, as part of incriminating evidence against the duo, Mr Kabir is purported to have said he will go to South Sudan and buy a pistol if Mr Lumumba agrees to give him Shs10 Million so that he can finish off Mr Odokonyero.

According to the recording, Mr Kabir was aggrieved after Mr Odokonyero allegedly forced his wife identified only as Lagum to abort a pregnancy after the two became lovers.

Mr Kabir also accused Mr Odokonyero of infecting his wife with HIV/Aids.

Prosecution witnesses including Mr Odokonyero, told court that Mr Kabir and Mr Lumumba are conspiring to kill him.

The case was dismissed against the duo but Mr Odokonyero ran to court saying he is not satisfied with the earlier ruling and it was subsequently reinstated.

Two years ago, Lumumba accused Mr Odokonyero of defiling his underage daughter, who was a Primary six pupil at Bright Valley Nursery & Primary School, a private school where the accused is the proprietor.
