Capt Don Adiki, the Gulu District Internal Security Officer (DISO) has asked two criminal gangs’ members and their commanders to surrender before they are hunted down and arrested.

Addressing the residents of Gulu town during Independence celebrations at Pece War Memorial Stadium on Sunday, Capt Adiki revealed that security agencies have identified two major groups that have been terrorizing the residents of Gulu town and its suburbs.

Capt Adiki who was representing the Gulu Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Capt Santos Okot Lapolo as the chief guest revealed that the two groups are behind the wave of robberies on mobile money operators, thefts and night attacks on residents.

Adiki explained that the gangs waylay people on their way home especially in the evening before they strike and rob them of their valuables.

He identified the groups as ‘‘Columbia Squad’’ which he says majorly operates in Bungatira Sub County and another one as ‘‘Boo-Kech.’’

The DISO said the Boo-Kech is made up of criminal who do not eat any other thing apart from beef, chicken and fish. To support this expensive lifestyle, the gangs rob from the public, according to the DISO.

The DISO also accused the gangs for raping women.

He warned that the gangs should surrender or face arrests.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa Region Police Spokesperson asked the public to report to wrong elements to the police.
