A stray Buffalo was on Sunday afternoon killed by locals in Pader district after it injured two residents.

The buffalo was killed in Acut Omer village in Puranga Sub County.

Locals reportedly first saw the wild animal on Saturday and attacked it.

The LC3 Chairperson Puranga Sub county Mr John Bosco Oringa said the buffalo become wild after it had been injured.

The next day, on Sunday, the beast injured two people identified as Denis Odong 16 and another identified only as Okello. The two have been admitted at Puranga Health Center III.

“The Buffalo had already been injured by the locals. It was infuriated and when it met these two people. They tried attacking it but it fought back and injured them,” Mr Oringa told Acholi Times.

Residents of Acut Omer village later mobilised, killed the animal and shared its meat.

Oringa however faulted locals for killing buffalo killing the animal saying they should have contacted the Uganda Wildlife Authority [UWA].

Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson Mr Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the incident to Acholi Times on Tuesday.

Okema said police is hunting for those who killed the animal.

“Since we have no name of suspects, our officers are moving door to door in that village looking for those with meat of the wild animal, those got with it will be apprehended and charged for illegal killing of protected wild life species,” Okema said.

The buffalo is suspected to have strayed from Kidepo Valley National park into Pader. The Park which is located in the Karamoja region neighbours Pader.

In fact Uganda is becoming like North Korea. These policeman acts like he is not even Acholi, very stupid indeed. Instead of sending police to look from gun robbers in Gulu, here disturbing locals.
Wild animals is turning ACHOLI sub region into another war zone. In Agago people are suffering because of wild animals eating up food crops. My entire farm eaten by Elephants and nothing is done by the police of UWA. Let them go to Lapono and see effect of wild animals. Recently two women killed by bafalos
En lok me mingo matek. Gin atima peke bot police
