Mr Samuel Odonga- Otto, the Member of Parliament representing Aruu County in Pader district has apologized to his voters while making a u-turn on his earlier declaration not to contest for re-election.

Addressing the press at Northern Uganda Media Club (Numec) office in Gulu town on Monday morning, Otto described his earlier plan not to run in the 2016 parliamentary race as premature.

Otto who is not new to controversy said that his plan to represent the people of Aruu in Parliament for the third time is out of consultation with both people and Virgin Mary.

The legislature described his earlier lack of interest not to contest again as a mistake and asked his electorate to reconsider his change of plan to run again.

According to Otto, “I was tricked by Satan not to run again in the forthcoming election but I reversed my decision after talking to God through Virgin Mary.”

He also welcomed the creation of the new constituency; Aruu South saying it will improve service delivery.

Otto revealed that he will run in the new Aruu South Constituency on the Forum for Democratic Party (FDC) ticket adding that, “I am not after money but helping the Acholi people to have a voice in national matters of importance.”

Early last year, Otto declared intentions to stand in Omoro County after falling out with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Jacob Oulanyah but later abandoned the plan.

The Aruu MP accused the Deputy Speaker Oulanya of discussing issues they have discussed with fellow legislators from Acholi sub region inside closed doors with the President and Cabinet ministers.

But Mr Simon Tolit also a member of FDC who lost to his Jacob Oulanyah, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer who polled 10,856 votes to his 8,983 votes in the 2011 Parliamentary race asked the Aruu MP to back off his ambition to run for Omoro County MP seat in the 2016 elections.

He said the reasons outlined by Otto to unseat Oulanyah were vague and that there was no need for him to represent Omoro County in order to redeem the Acholi people.

Former Omoro MP Toolit said he just needs some advice from the current Aruu County MP in order to do away with Oulanyah.
