The late Martin Komakech worked as a security guard at Mega FM, one of the most listened to radio station in northern Uganda

Martin Komakech alias Congo, 32, a security guard at Gulu- based Mega FM has died. Mr Komakech died Friday evening in a fatal road accident  at Layibi, about three kilomteres from Gulu town, along the Gulu- Kampala highway.

The late Komakech, a resident of Pece Vanguard, a Gulu town suburb died on Friday around 5:30pm when he reportedly lost control of his Mahindra motorbike registration number UEH235X and knocked another Honda motorcycle registration number UDE 525F which was joining the  Gulu- Kampala highway. The impact of the accident sent him veering off and in the process colliding with a speeding Ipsum car which knocked him dead.

The Aswa river region police public relations officer Patrick Jimmy Okema said a team from police was dispatched to the site of the accident from where they took the deceased’s body to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

The late Komakech worked for Mega from the early 2000 before he became a ‘‘Crime Preventer’’ and later rejoining Mega FM as head of security.

This is the twelfth fatal accident case registered in Gulu town in July. Police blames such accidents on poor road use.
