    Prisons Officer Killed In Gulu Road Accident

    Norah Erio, a Prisons Chief Wardress on Tuesday evening died instantly after the vehicle she was travelling in overturned along Gulu- Olwiyo road after one of its tyre burst.

    Erio met her death while returning from Lamoki village in Anaka Sub County in Nwoya district where she has sent female prisons’ inmates from Gulu to Nwoya to carry out manual work.

    Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa Region Police Spokesperson said the vehicle, a Tipper Lorry Registration Number UAV 991 V overturned at Koch Kweyo in Ongako Sub County in Omoro district at around 7:30pm. In the process, the police spokesman said, six inmates were injured.

    The police spokesman identified the injured as: Prossy Amito, Winnie Adoch, Prossy Amal, Christine Amiya, Aisha Lamara and Winnie Aromo. They are currently receiving treatment at the Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

    Reports indicate that after the tyre of the vehicle burst, there was panic and in the process, some of the inmates jumped off the vehicle, injuring themselves.

    Three inmates in the lorry Lilian Aol, Mary Aciro and Evelyn Adong sustained minor injuries.

      Release these inmates – they suffered injury beyond their sentences (time served) NOT Hard labour as well!!
