LRA leader Joseph Kony (centre) and  the rebels senior rebel leadership, some have since died. The rebels, according to a new report by two US charities are dressing in army uniforms which look like those of the Congolese army.

A new report by the LRA Crisis Tracker, an initiative by the charity Invisible Children and The Resolve, all US based advocacy groups, indicates suspected Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel fighters are donning army uniforms similar to that of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC).

FARDC is the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’s government armed forces.

The latest report indicates that on July 26, at Kpatanabu in Ulele areas in the DRC, six (6) suspected members of the LRA forces who were wearing military clothing resembling FARDC ambushed 8 travelers.

The attackers, according to LRA Crisis Tracker report, were armed with AK-47s and spoke Acholi and broken Lingala.

They looted meat, bush-meat, rice, money, and clothes, the report adds.

In the latest incident of violence involving LRA fighters, on August 3, a group of LRA is reported to have attacked Ndenguilo, in the Central African Republic (CAR) and looted sugar, cassava, rice, and other non-food items.

A local farmer who escaped reported that 32 men and children (including him) had been abducted by the assailants prior to the attack.

Since the beginning of this year, 295 civilians were abducted, eight killed in 95 incidents of attack local community in the DRC, CAR and South Sudan.
