Omoro district chairperson Douglas Peter Okello Okao is seeking for security protection following alleged death threats against his life.
Okello popularly known as Okao said that his life was on Monday last week threatened by a district councilor in Opit Town Council who accused him [Okao] of conniving with security to impound his [Councilor’s vehicle] while driving beyond the curfew time.
The district chairperson disclosed that the councilor whom he declined to name threatened him on phone that he will end his [Chairman’s life].
The district Chairman said he is currently living in great fear for his life due to the threat. He said he had reported the matter to the police and to the military at the 4th Division barracks.
Bonny Bamwiseki, the Forth Division Commander confirmed that an investigation into the matter has commenced and is being jointly being by Police in Aswa River Region and the 4th Division barracks.
Aswa River Regional Police Commander, Emitu Ezekiel, confirmed the matter and said police is planning to provide the chairperson with personal security.
