    Four Killed, Five Critically Injured in Attack on General Otema`s Farm

    Four people have been killed and five others critically injured during an attack Thursday morning at  the farm belonging to General Charles Otema Awany, the Commander of UPDF’s Reserve Forces.

    Reports say a group of about 80  armed with spears, bows and arrows, pangas, knives and clubs stormed the farm in Obira South Village in Obira Parish Got Apwoyo Sub County Nwoya district at around 8:00 a.m and shot at soldiers on guard at the farm.

    Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema said on Friday that the crowd advanced towards the  solders while shooting at them with spears, arrows and stones. The soldiers shot in the air to scare away the attackers, according to police, but the attackers did not retreat forcing soldiers to shoot at them, killing four.

    The dead have been identified as Kerukadho Ocaka, 25, resident of Obira South in Obira parish Got Apwoyo Sub County Nwoya district, Socrate Onenerach aka Jama, 25, resident of Padwat, Kucwinyi Sub County in Nebbi district, Walter Piwun, 21, resident of Mbaro Akanga Vilage in ATego Sub County Nebbi district and Innocent Taba, 23, resident of Pacheru Village in Panyango Sub County Pakwach district.

    The injured are: Charles Okethwengwu, 23, Innocent Oyergiu, 29, Nickson Okethi, 52, Patrick Mungujakisa, 19 and Justine Omirambe, 24.

    The deceased and injured are all at Pakwach Health Centre IV.

    One suspect identified as Lance Corporal Agaba Kyankwanzi has been arrested and detained at Nwoya Central Police Station where a case of murder by shooting has been registered  and is being investigated under file number CRB 471/2020.
