A suspect has died from a detention cell in Apaa Army detach in Apaa Junction Amuru district.
Fred Onen Lutukuremu, 31, was discovered dead on Sunday morning.
Reports from Pabbo indicate that Onen was apprehended in the wee hours of Sunday morning at around 1:30 a.m. from Apaa Junction (bordering Amuru and Adjumani districts) and detained at Apaa Army Detach for defying curfew time.
The deceased was a resident of Dwari village in Pabbo Town Council Amuru district.
The Pabbo L3 Chairman Chairperson Christopher Odongkara told Acholi Times on Sunday evening that the army reached him and the family of the deceased by phone.
Odongkara who visited the army detach said that the Apaa Army detach commander he only identified as Lt Col. Sebala told him that Onen committed suicide by hanging himself using his shirt.
The chairperson however questioned how the deceased could hang himself in the grass thatched makeshift hut whose roof was way higher than the height of the deceased. The Pabbo LC3 Chairman also questioned why the army hastily took the body of the deceased to Adjumani hospital.
John Bosco Oloya, a friend to the deceased`s family said that Onen left his home in Pabbo Town Council on Saturday evening at around 5:00 p.m. using a motorcycle and said that he was taking medicine to his sick child who leaves with the mother in Apaa Trading Centre.
Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Police Spokesperson said she wasn’t aware about the details of Onen’s death.
